2008 Results
More than 8,400 participants came out to the 2008 Susan G. Komen
Baton Rouge Race for the Cure®. Thanks to the support of
our friends and partners in the community, we have once again
exceeded last years numbers! We have maintained our status
as the largest 5K race in the Capital Region. The Race raised
over $250,000, which will be used for breast cancer education,
screening and treatment programs in our region, with an emphasis
on underserved groups and areas.
Where Your Money Goes
Up to 75% of the net proceeds of the Komen Baton Rouge Race for
the Cure® will stay in the greater Baton Rouge area to support
local breast cancer screening, treatment and education projects.
Twenty-five percent of proceeds go to national breast cancer
research programs to help find a cure for breast cancer. Thanks
to you, since 1994 the Baton Rouge Affiliate has awarded more
than $1 million to local organizations providing breast cancer
education, screening, and treatment programs.
